About The Growers: The Azuma Tea Garden is a family-operated, fourth-generation farm specializing in Tencha tea leaf cultivation and processing. Founded in the late 19th century the family manages tea fields in the mountains of Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan. While not fully certified organic yet, they are in the process of converting to organic cultivation.

"Wazuka-cho in Kyoto is known as the main production region of Uji tea. Surrounded by mountains, river, clean air and rich soil, Wazuka is a region suited for growing tea. A delicious tea worth discovering

I had always had the impression that bancha was substandard tea. While it is certainly not as flavorful as a good sencha or gyokuru, i’m discovering that it has certain qualities that are quite enjoyable, especially for that last cup of tea late in the afternoon. The slight smokiness in this tea keeps it a real warming aroma. This is quite an enjoyable tea, and I hope I can buy some more of this in the future. (as I write this review, it’s sold out.).

Pleased you enjoy this tea. It is indeed very warming and comforting. An easy evening brew. Thank you for the review
